Introduction
The section of wall between Ber Street and the surviving wall at Carrow
Hill was just over 140 metres long and had one intermediate tower. The
tower was demolished in the middle of the 19th century but there are
several drawings of the tower by Henry Ninham in the Castle Museum. [1]
Parts of the wall itself survived in the main back walls of properties in
Bracondale into the early 20th century. These houses were not investigated
as part of this survey and some sections of the wall may survive within
these houses.
