A design workshop was held last night (11 March) at City Hall as part of the council’s commitment to put traders front and centre of the consultation on the future of Norwich Market.
Councillor Claire Kidman, cabinet member for prosperity, said: “It was a constructive and positive workshop with traders. Traders are front and centre of our consultation and are absolutely integral to shaping design options.”
The design workshop will be one of a number of similar meetings with traders and stakeholders before options for the future of the market go out to public consultation later this year.
Cllr Kidman said: “Any new designs will be the product of our extensive consultation process – however – I want to make it clear, we are determined to retain the market’s iconic, historical identity and cultural strengths. We want people from all over the county, the UK, and beyond to come and sample the atmosphere of our magical medieval city and market.”
