The zigzag path on Rouen Road is set to be transformed into a display of annual wildflowers.
Norwich City Council are working with The Conservation Volunteers to create a colourful walkthrough around the path, which will increase biodiversity in the area and give the whole community a space to enjoy.
The slopes that surround the zigzag pathway will first be cleared, before annual flower seeds are sown in late March next year. Next autumn the new annual wildflowers will be cut back, with further seed sowing to support natural regeneration in spring 2025.
Volunteers are welcome - if you would like to help create this new wildflower area, please contact Mark Webster at TCV at mark.webster@tcv.org.uk
Councillor Adam Giles, cabinet member for parks and open spaces, said:
“This is a great example of the community and volunteers coming together to do something that makes a difference and I’d like to thank everyone involved.
“By transforming this simple neighbourhood path into a wildflower display, we are improving biodiversity while also creating something that I hope local residents will really value. Next year the wildflowers should begin to show their true colours and I can’t wait to see the plans take shape.”
