Norwich Creative City Compact is asking residents to help it assess how easy it is to enjoy arts and culture across the city, so it can identify gaps in provision and widen opportunities.
It wants as many people as possible, whether they do or don’t attend any of the venues, festivals or events in Norwich, or take part in any creative hobbies or interests, to complete a survey at https://gettalking.norwich.gov.uk/norwich-culture indicating if there are any barriers to attendance and what role, if any, arts and culture have in the identity of the city.
Responses to the survey will be used to help Norwich Creative City Compact identify what is currently missing from the arts and culture offering in Norwich, and where accessibility and coordination can be improved, or additional funding drawn in.
All individual answers will be confidential. The deadline for replying to the survey is Friday 19 January 2024. Anyone completing the survey will be given the choice of providing their email address to be entered into a prize draw for £200.
Cllr Cate Oliver, cabinet member for wellbeing and culture, said: “We would encourage as many people across the city as possible to get involved in shaping the future of arts and culture in Norwich by responding to the survey.
“We need a wide range of views, including from those who currently don’t join in or attend anything as we want to know why and how we can change that. Our aim is to continue to build on the reputation of our city as a place where the arts flourish, where everyone has the opportunity to participate in some way and we can all experience the joy of coming together in shared activities which boost the overall wellbeing of our citizens.”
The Norwich Creative City Compact is a partnership of National Centre for Writing, Norwich Business Improvement District, Norfolk Museums Service, Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Norwich Arts Centre, Norwich City Council, Norwich Theatre, Norwich University of the Arts, Sainsbury Centre, The Forum, Young Norfolk Arts Trust and University of East Anglia.
