With government restrictions having eased further today (12 April) - marking the reopening of non-essential retail, leisure, personal care & holiday accommodation - Norwich says a big 'welcome back'.
A spokesman for Norwich City Council said: “A number of officers throughout the council have been working closely with businesses to advise and assist them with whatever they need to reopen and welcome back customers safely.
“In addition to this, some of our other facilities and services have reopened including leisure centres and the Rose Lane multi-story car park – all with the necessary Covid-secure measures in place.
“We’d like to welcome everyone back into the city while also urging residents and visitors to continue to follow the rules and help us protect Norwich.”

Leisure facilities
Our leisure and gym facilities – The Norman Centre, at Bignold Road, managed by Norwich City Council, and Riverside Leisure Centre, Wherry Road, managed by Places Leisure – are now open for household and individual bookings. Group bookings and classes will return when restrictions are eased further.
Norwich was one of 266 local authorities to receive a share of £100m of funding from Sport England’s National Leisure Recovery Fund to support the reopening of Riverside.
Rose Lane multi-storey car park
Our award winning car park, which includes secure cycle parking and electric vehicle charging points, at just a short walk from the city centre, re-opened from 7am today (12 April).
Norwich Market
While some stalls have been open throughout the pandemic, making sure residents could get hold of their essentials, many of these small independents were mandated to close. Traders worked hard to adapt their business offering, with many offering online, click and collect and delivery services, while others had to patiently wait to trade again.
As of today, stalls from every sector – include hair and beauty, gifts and clothing – will once again able to do what they do best: provide a hub of unique quality goods and services in the heart of the city.
All food and drink items must still be taken away and consumed away from the stalls until the next ease in restrictions. All customers visiting the market are reminded to wear face coverings and maintain a distance from other shoppers.
