New grant to support businesses affected by Tier 2 restrictions

Published on Wednesday, 23rd December 2020

A new grant has been launched today aimed at supporting Norwich businesses affected by the latest Tier 2 restrictions.

The new Local Restrictions Support Grant is for businesses predominantly in the hospitality, leisure and sport industries which have been significantly affected or forced to close since Norwich was put into Tier 2 local restrictions on 2 December 2020.

Businesses do not have to be a rate-paying business to qualify for this new grant (or council tax in the case of bed and breakfasts). Any non-rated business that has previously received a grant from Norwich City Council under the Discretionary Business Grant or Additional Restrictions Grant schemes and meets all other criteria, may also apply.

Another grant aimed at pubs which predominantly service alcohol was also recently launched.  The Christmas Support Payment is a one-off grant of £1,000 to cover the period of 2-29 December for businesses described as ‘wet-led pubs’.

Norwich City Council is now administering four different Covid-19 support grants on behalf of the government and urges businesses to  go to its business grant page to see if they are eligible to apply.
