The first instalment of Norwich City Council’s summer series of free bandstand concerts gets underway this weekend (Sunday 4 June) with a performance from Hellesdon and Sprowston Brass in Chapelfield Gardens.
They are one of a number of local groups performing in the summer concert series, taking place at various parks across the city, every Sunday at 3pm, throughout June, July and August.
Now in their 19th year, the concerts are organised by local conductor and former British Army musician, Brian Dermott, who has been collating the schedule on behalf of Norwich City Council, since he first put forward the idea back in 1999.
Helen Selleck, culture and events manager for Norwich City Council said: “The bandstand concerts are a wonderful way of experiencing the talent of local musicians performing in a traditional setting in four of our most beautiful parks and are not to be missed.”
All concerts take place on Sundays at 3pm. The performance schedule is available online at www.norwich.gov.uk/events
