My Norwich

Help a refugee

As a city, we are committed to doing what we can to welcome those seeking sanctuary and help them rebuild their lives.

I have a spare room:
Refugees who have been told to leave their asylum accommodation may have difficulty finding an affordable room to rent before they are able to find employment.

If you have a spare room, you can host a refugee via Room for Refugees  or Refugees at Home

Those taking in a refugee as a single occupant in Norwich can retain their 25% Council Tax discount for 3 months - Council Tax discount for a single occupant taking in a refugee

I want to offer accommodation:
If you are looking to let your property, or know of any landlords that would be willing to let their property, to refugees and refugee families please email refugeehousingadvice@norwich.gov.uk. We are especially interested in hearing from you if you have a 4+ bedroom HMO available for let.

You are also able to email the council’s Private Sector Leasing Team  at PSLT@norwich.gov.uk for information about letting your property through the council’s private rented scheme, Let NCC. For more information about LetNCC, please visit LetNCC - private sector leasing scheme

I want to offer other support:
There are a number of voluntary agencies in Norwich currently working with refugees and asylum seekers across the city. They would benefit from additional volunteering support and donations to help them continue their work with refugees and asylum seekers.

Please visit ‘Support in Norwich’ to find out which other organisations you may be able to donate to or volunteer for.

Norfolk County Council have further information on how you can support with the resettlement of refugees - Help support refugee resettlement - Norfolk County Council

You may also be able to donate to the Bishop of Norwich’s Refugee Fund - Refugee support - Diocese of Norwich
