A UK Parliamentary general election will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024.
The registration deadline for voting in this election is 11.59pm on Tuesday 18 June.
At a general election you have one vote to choose a candidate to represent your constituency in the House of Commons.
There are two MPs with constituencies in Norwich:
- Norwich South (administered by Norwich City Council) - find out who the candidates are
- Norwich North (administered by Broadland District Council)

- Publication of notice of election – no later than 4pm, Tuesday 4 June
- Nomination period - Wednesday 5 June to 4pm, Friday 7 June
- Publication of statement of persons nominated – 5pm, Friday 7 June
- Voter registration deadline – Tuesday 18 June

Voter ID
If you vote at a polling station, you will now need photo ID. Check whether you have the right photo ID on the government’s approved list.
If you do not have photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate, before the deadline 5pm Wednesday 26 June.

How to vote if you can't get to a polling a station
By post. Anyone who is eligible and registered to vote can apply for a postal vote, but we need to receive your application before 5pm on Wednesday 19 June.
By proxy — somebody to vote on your behalf. The deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June, if you currently vote in person. If you wish to have a proxy vote instead of voting by post, you will need to apply for a proxy vote by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June.
