How to get there and where to park

Visitors coming into Norwich for the Lord Mayor's Weekend celebrations (13 and 14 July) are encouraged to use public transport wherever possible as traffic is likely to be very busy.

Road closures

Vehicular access to some roads in the city centre will be restricted during the Lord Mayor’s Procession and at other times - please see road closures for details.

With a change in the procession route this year, most bus services on Castle Meadow and St Stephens will not be affected by road closures on Saturday 13 July.

Between 2pm and 5pm, buses will not be able to serve Tombland and Anglia Square.

Services on Rampant Horse Street will serve Castle Meadow only for the whole day.

Information will also be available in the News section on the Travel Norfolk website. Printed information on any service changes will be available on the stop on the day.

Buses and trains

All of the festivities are within walking distance of the train and bus stations.

All bus operators will run normal timetables during the event, with those buses affected by any road closures using diversions to serve their other usual stops in Norwich city centre or at the bus station.  Access to the bus station will be unaffected, with National Express coach services operating as usual.

Norfolk County Council will display advance signs at the bus stops to advise passengers of the correct embarkation and disembarking areas. Details will also be on bus screens.

Evening services on all routes will also operate as normal, with an enhanced level of evening services on many routes thanks to funding from the county’s BSIP (Bus Service Improvement Plan initiative funded by the UK Government to strengthen regional bus services).

Bus operator services serving the city centre are:

Between 2pm and 5pm, Park and Ride passengers should use the bus station only for their return journeys. Route 8, which serves Thickthorn, will run all evening with the last bus at 11:30pm.

(Passengers at the Airport Park and Ride can use Sanders X55 evening services to Cromer Road after 6:36pm – an additional fare will be payable).

Please visit Konectbus website for service details.

Car parks

All city centre car parks will be open as usual during the weekend.
