Lord Mayor's Weekend 2024

Please note:  The Lord Mayor’s Procession for 2024 will follow a reversed route to previous years. It will start out from Norwich Cathedral at 3pm along Tombland, Queen Street, St Andrews Street, Exchange Street, Gentleman’s Walk past Norwich Market, Haymarket, Brigg Street and Theatre Street, towards Chapelfield Gardens.

Lord Mayor's Procession route for 2024

Norwich’s biggest FREE weekend street party – The Lord Mayor’s Weekend – will take place on July 13 and 14 2024.

Come and enjoy all the vibrant colours and sounds of the carnival parade, along with lots of family activities and an open-air music festival to boot!

Hosted by Norwich City Council, the Lord Mayor’s Weekend #LMW24 will see the historic Lord Mayor’s Procession take to the streets on the afternoon of Saturday 13 July, continuing with lots of entertainment in Chapelfield Gardens, plus a free-to-attend evening programme of live music headlined by the UK Foo Fighters, and all rounded off on Sunday with the Great Norwich Duck Race along the River Wensum.

The procession will include the city’s civic dignitaries in colourful historic costumes, marching musical bands, acrobats, giant puppets, carnival flags and feathers, with many local groups and organisations taking part with a theme of ‘Norwich Loves You’ which draws on the city’s renown as a place where all feel safe and welcomed, whichever community they come from.

Schools, community groups, charities and businesses will be taking part, with participants encouraged to come dressed for carnival fun.

Accessible viewing on Saturday 13 July

For those with access requirements, spaces can be pre-booked for the accessible viewing area for the procession on Brigg Street (near the former Debenhams store).

To pre-book a space, please email events@norwich.gov.uk or call 01603 989333.

On the day, signage will show where the viewing area is and those who have booked can proceed to the signs where a steward can allow them access. If those who have booked do not arrive by a certain time, then their spaces will be offered to others who haven’t booked on a first-come-first-served basis until the area is full.

There will also be an accessible viewing area for the stage in Chapelfield Gardens for the afternoon and evening’s activities, and there will be accessible and baby-changing toilet facilities signposted for use in both areas.
