My Norwich

Vision project: Norwich Good Economy Commission

In collaboration with Norwich City Council, University of East Anglia and other organisations, the Norwich Good Economy Commission carried out research from 2020-22 to identify key issues and explore how we could improve our people’s lives and experience of the Norwich economy. We created a unique space for the people of Norwich to come together to tackle the inequalities that exist in our community, which were worsened during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Commission conducted research, tested initiatives and evaluated existing approaches, whilst learning from best practice across the UK, with the view to leave a lasting impact on people’s lives. The Commission’s recommendations will drive progressive change in Norwich by improving the delivery of existing services and programmes, enhancing anchor institution practices and building upon new collaborations. All of which will help attract additional funding and coordinate existing resources to tackle key problems in our city’s economy and improve our lives.

The great work of the Commission culminated in a final report which outlines in detail, all that the Commission achieved across a wide range of topic areas, all of which sought to explore the various inequalities the people of Norwich are facing. The report contains valuable insights into how the 2040 City Vision partners and other local organisations can help to address these inequalities, as we aim to realise a Norwich economy that works for everyone.
