Council tenancies

Tenancy agreement

Last summer (2023), over 500 residents shared their valuable insights on our proposed tenancy strategy, policy and agreement. We’re grateful for their contributions as they significantly shaped the revised documents. We reopened the consultation during March 2024 for all those who joined us as tenants after August 23 who had not had the opportunity to feedback.

Taking into account feedback from both groups we have now updated the documents which you will find below.

Tenancy agreement

When accepting a council home, a contract (or tenancy agreement) is completed and signed by the tenant and a council officer. It is a legal document which sets out the rights and obligations of the landlord (Norwich City Council) and the tenant(s).

New agreement from 27 May 2024
