Allotment waste and polluting activities policy

How can I get rid of waste from my allotment plot?

You can take waste from your allotment plot to a household waste recycling centre for disposal.

There are restrictions which limit the quantity of certain types of waste you can dispose of, such as tyres and DIY waste for example. Household waste recycling centres do not accept hazardous waste including asbestos, paint, and gas cylinders for example.

For further information on the types of waste that you can take to the household waste recycling centres please visit Norfolk County Council's website.

Alternatively, you can contact and pay a licensed waste carrier to remove the waste from your allotment plot for you. It is very important that you do not respond to a waste notice by burning your waste. This can pollute the soil and be damaging for the environment. Burning waste identified by a waste notice will be considered a breach of allotment rules and would lead to further notices being issued. This may ultimately lead to the termination of your tenancy.
