Allotment waste and polluting activities policy

Fly-tipped waste on car parks and other communal allotment land

Fly-tipping of waste is a criminal offence and it is important that you do not put any materials on land outside of your plot area, including vacant plots or in parking areas, as this will be considered fly-tipping.

If you see fly-tipping activity on any communal land or vacant plots please report this to the council online. Any additional information about the fly-tipping incident such as the supplier or vehicle registration can be included in the online form.

The council sometimes arranges for controlled and limited deliveries of leaf mulch and chipped wood on communal land for use by allotment tenants. This is a controlled activity and tenants should not arrange for personal deliveries of organic materials onto communal land unless these can be transported onto plots swiftly. Such activities should be undertaken with the support of your allotment association or site representative.
