Due to the specialist nature of Passivhaus construction and design, the 'Fabric First' framework brings together a group of small, medium and large contractors with the necessary expertise to carry out this type of work and assist the development of a number of Passivhaus projects.
The framework is being managed by Hamson Barron Smith (part of NPS Norwich) on behalf of Norwich City Council and can also be used by other local authorities and housing associations wishing to carry out similar projects.
Key features of 'Fabric First' include the creation of comfortable, energy efficient living/working environments, using innovative methods of construction and a flexible construction methodology with minimal implications for design.
