If you are in receipt of a single person discount, you must tell us within 21 days about any change in your circumstances which may affect your entitlement to the discount. If you don't, you could be charged a penalty of £70.
Examples of changes that may affect your discount:
- another adult moves in
- someone in your household turns 18
- someone in the property is no longer considered as a person who is not counted for council tax purposes.
Cancel a single person discount
If you’re claiming housing benefit and someone moves in or out of your household you need to tell us about it on the household change form.
