If you have a 125m2 allotment that is in good condition then you may be eligible to extend your growing area onto an adjoining half plot or onto an extra half plot elsewhere on your allotment site.
To be eligible for this you will need to have maintained your plot to a good to excellent standard and for this to be reflected in your allotment inspections over the last six months. You may also apply for a full plot on your allotment site on the basis that you would give up your existing plot for re-letting.
Also, if your neighbour is giving up their plot then they can ask us to consider allocating their allotment to you. If you’re interested, please ask them to mention it when they get in touch with the council to give in their notice.
If you are aware that a plot next to yours is not being worked and you would be interested in taking that plot on should it become available then you should contact the council and we can advise you on this. However the officer may not be able to guarantee that a plot will be allocated to you and it may be that you are advised you to come back at a future date where the council will have more information about tenancy of the plot you are interested in.
Please note that it is important that you do not start working any plots you are interested in until you have received formal notification that they have been allocated to you.
For more information or if you would like to apply to extend your plot, please contact us.
