Notice of election — Norwich City Council

Election of a Member of Parliament for the Norwich South Constituency

  1. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer at Room 401, City Hall, Norwich City Council, Norwich NR2 1NH, on any working day after the date of notice during normal office hours but no later than 4pm on Friday 7 June 2024.
  2. Nomination papers may be obtained from the Acting Returning Officer at the above address.
  3. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024 between the hours of 7.00am and 10.00pm.
  4. The £500 deposit can be paid by legal tender, by means of a banker’s draft from a UK bank or by electronic transfer. The deposit will be returned in the manner that it is provided.
  5. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024. Applications can be made online at: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
  6. New applications for postal votes or amendments or cancellations of existing postal and postal proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. Applications can be made online at: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote.
  7. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.
  8. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must be received by the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications can be made online at: www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.
  9. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons or loss/stolen/destroyed/damaged photo ID must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address below by 5pm on Thursday 4 July 2024. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware after 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024 that they cannot go to the polling station in person. To apply on the grounds of photo ID, the original photo ID must have best lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged after 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024
