What if I have a serious medical problem or disability that is being made worse by my current housing?
Please contact the Norwich Home Options team on 0344 980 3333 in the first instance. A specialist adviser will be able to discuss your needs and, if appropriate, provide you with a medical self-assessment form to complete.
The form comes with a guidance leaflet that explains how medical assessments work and gives clear instructions on how to complete the form.
Please be aware that if your medical problem or disability is not serious and enduring and/or is not directly affected by your present housing and/or would not improve if rehoused, then you will not be given any medical priority.
Mobility needs
We record and consider any specific needs for adaptations or accessible features when allocating housing.
If you or someone in your household needs additional adaptations or accessible features, we may refer you to the Adaptations and Housing Occupational Therapist service. They will work with you to assess your needs and help find suitable housing.
Your application may be marked with an accessibility flag, so you can apply for homes that have been adapted to make daily living easier.
The details of each property will show if it has any accessibility features. These may include:
- Full wheelchair access
- Ramps or level access to enter and exit the property
- Accessible kitchens and bathrooms
- Partial wheelchair access
- Wet rooms
- Stair lifts
- Patio doors to the garden
