Consultation and engagement

As a local authority, it’s important to us to capture as wide and as broad a range of voices and perspectives on our work and services, both digitally and in person. We are constantly trying to improve how we engage with our residents.

Get Talking Norwich

Get Talking Norwich is our new digital engagement platform. Launched in October 2021, we are gradually introducing more and more consultation projects to the platform.

Designed to offer a variety of ways you can have your say: from simple polls to posting ideas on a notice board or maps, to having debates with other residents on our forum panel.  This is your chance to share your ideas and thoughts, influence decisions that matter to you and follow a project’s progress.

See our latest live consultations on our Get Talking Norwich website.

Community Consultants

At Norwich City Council we pride ourselves on placing the voices of our residents at the heart of what we deliver. That’s why we have developed our Community Consultants database where we invite residents with specific passions or expertise to register to offer their insights into our work in a way which suits them.

Members can select the topics they have lived experience of, are experts in or are passionate about, and the type of engagement they are able to undertake such as small focus groups with officers, large scale discussion groups or online surveys and ideas forums.

By becoming a Community Consultant and identifying your areas of interest and ways in which you would be comfortable contributing, you will be added to this growing list of residents ready to shape our services.

When officers are ready to identify an engagement route right for their project, they will use this list to select people who are interested in their area of work or who will provide insights from their lived experience on key topics and reach out to them to ask for their thoughts.

You can specify how you prefer to be contacted and there’s no obligation to give any feedback if you don’t have the time or the subject doesn’t excite you.

Your information will be held securely on Norwich City Council servers and only shared with internal colleagues for the purposes of engaging you in feedback, and never shared outside the council. You can opt out any time and can find our full privacy notice at www.norwich.gov.uk/Privacy

We really appreciate residents giving us their time and expertise to help us deliver the best services we can for the city.

To express an interest in joining our growing list of engaged people, simply email us at communtiy@norwich.gov.uk. We’ll ask you to fill in a registration form to capture your interests and expertise.  If you need this in a more accessible format than a Word document, please let us know and we’re happy to accommodate.

For those not wanting to be on a specific list but willing to engage as they see fit, there will still be in person and online public forums for discussion including on Get Talking Norwich and local events.
