When to put out your bins

The vast majority of households have an alternate weekly service collecting mixed recycling one week from a blue wheelie bin and general refuse the next week from a black wheelie bin.

When and where

Wheelie bins or bags are collected from the edge of your property. Put your bin out by 6am on your collection day, but no earlier than 6pm the evening before. Please make sure that you return your bin to the inside of your property boundary by 9am the day after your scheduled collection.

Make sure lids are fully closed – we will not collect bins with open lids which are overflowing with rubbish.

Food waste

This is collected weekly on your usual waste and recycling collection days. Just remember to leave it on the edge of your property each week with your other bin.

Public holidays

Bin collection days will change following bank holidays and other public holidays. Check your collection day to make sure you know when to put out your bin.

Properties without wheelie bins

A small number of homes have recycling bags, sacks or boxes for mixed recycling and black sacks for general waste. General waste is collected every week and recycling every fortnightly. Food waste caddies will be collected every week.

Communal bins

Properties with communal arrangements have bins that all residents can use for recycling, glass, general waste and food waste.  Most collections are made on an alternate week basis for recycling and general waste.  Where there are communal food waste bins, these are emptied every week.
