Licensing - Street trading

Record details

Street trading policies, pitches and processes are currently under review.

If you would like to a rent a market stall in the heart of the city, then Norwich Market has vacancies in both our permanent and pop-up stalls. You will need a licence from us if you are stationary and wish to sell any goods from your stall.

Alternatively, you can seek a pedlar's certificate direct from Norfolk Police (subject to conditions being met).

Conditions of the licence

Only goods as agreed and stated on the consent can be sold. No generators are allowed. Trading is only permitted within the stall area and at the end of each evening the items must be cleared away.

What information/evidence will I need to provide?

Valid public liability insurance of a minimum cover of £5 million.

How long does the licence last and what’s the renewal procedure?

Consent is issued until the end of the year. When it is due for renewal you will need to submit a new application.

Can I appeal?

No. But we can let you know the reasons why your application was turned down. Applicants can apply as many times as they like.
