Norwich City Council is the data controller for dealing with complaints. We process this information to carry out a task in the public interest and fulfil our legal obligations.

What will we do with your data?
We use your personal data to investigate your complaint and issue a response.
We intend to keep your data for six years, as stated in our Retention Schedule available on our website.
What are your rights?
You have the right to request access to your personal information. You also have the right to:
- ask for errors to be corrected
- restrict how your information is used
- object to how it is processed
- request that your data is deleted.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office if you are not happy with how your data is processed.
What are the consequences of you not providing data?
We may not be able to fully investigate and respond to a complaint.
How will we share your data?
Information provided for complaints is shared internally with the service area(s) that the complaint covers and our customer contact team. If the complaint relates to a service provided by a third party, your personal data may also be shared with the provider.
Addititionally, you data may be shared externally with the Ombudsman (where appropriate) in order that they may carry out their statutory duties.
We may also share your information with a councillor or Member of Parliament, where you have asked them to act on your behalf.
Apart from where previously stated, we do not pass your details to third parties unless we are lawfully able to do so for the prevention and detection of crime and fraud, or for the collection of taxes.
